Hytec sponsors 4th library for Mandela Libraries Project

As part of the company’s commitment to education and social upliftment, Hytec has partnered with the Mandela Libraries Project for the fourth time to supply a fully stocked and containerised library for the Marikana Primary School in the North West province.

In addition to sponsoring the fully contained structure, Hytec’s R198 000 donation covered the shelving, security structures, air conditioning as well as a variety of educational and entertaining books and comics.

Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the 20th of April 2017, Ralph Palphramand, Hytec Regional Manager, commented that: ‘Education is a key pillar for success in Africa and Hytec is extremely proud to sponsor the library that will encourage reading and inspire the minds of the 1 200 scholars at the Marikana Primary School.’

The library brings much needed hope, educational support and social upliftment to the tragedy-stricken North West mining town. And as such, the launch was attended by Dr. Teu (Department of Education and MEC for the North West region), MP Diale (Department of Education, responsible for the Marikana and surrounding areas) as well as television’s Egoli star Hlubi Mboya-Arnold, along with representatives from the school and sponsors.

In addition to Hytec, this year’s Mandela Libraries Project was sponsored by Participate for Good, Soul City Institute for Social Justice, Rotary Club of South Africa and Quali-Naledi book publishers.

Hytec is committed to uplifting the communities in which it operates and has previously co-sponsored similar libraries for Crown Mines Primary School (Johannesburg), Qoyintaba Primary School (KwaZulu-Natal) and Mantshatlala Intermediate School (Free State), as part of the Mandela Libraries Project.

Hytec is a member of the Hytec Group of Companies.
